About
This project was conducted based on a request from my previous hackathon team member to design an e-commerce website where users can buy Gadgets posted on TikTok.
TikTok User Research
Available in 75 languages, TikTok is one of the world's largest social media platforms with 1.2 billion users and an average of 9.6 million views per post.
Although there is not a significantly marked difference in the number of users by gender, TikTok is best represented by the younger generation, which makes up 75% of its users with 43% of 18 to 24 years old and 32% between 25 and 34 years old. Resource: Omnicore
Survey Result
The survey was conducted and collected 6 respondents.
66% of the users are aged 21 to 35 and half of them use TikTok every day. The items the respondents would buy are mostly fashion items and tools, then the kitchen and useful tools that help choirs.
Personas
Two personas are created to visualize the main users of this TikTok gadget website.
User Flow
The user flow was created to examine what actions the users will take.
Wireframe
Based on the user flow, the wireframe was created.
I referenced Sephora, Etsy, Hoop Culture and Amazon to get an idea of how to design a clean webpage where varieties of items are sold in different categories.
Please feel free to take a look at this wireframe by zooming in.
Doesn’t work? Sorry for the trouble, please jump to Figma🙂
Takeaway
I am delighted to be able to finish this entire process in the limited time for my hackathon friend who offered me to design his TikTok gadget website.
However, based on the research, I should have suggested building a mobile app instead of a website because the majority of the users use TikTok on a smartphone. Also, the web design should have been responsive so that the user can access the service from a smartphone as well.
