About

This is an extracurricular team project at the hackathon 2022 at the University of Toronto, where passionate college students from all Ontario colleges and universities gather to create an innovative solution.

We were given 2 days to work on a topic from health, nature, diversity, and discovery.

My team with 2 designers and 2 developers, picked health (mental health) and designed a web app where the user talks to a historical figure to ask for advice and solve worries on the daily basis.

This idea came up since I like looking up maxims from historical figures to gain some tips in my life when I am stuck. Based on this original idea, we ideated to make a chatbot where the user can let their worries out as if they were talking to historical celebrities and getting advice.

We hoped that those who want to let their worries out but possess hesitation to talk to real people have a way to let them out.

These are our pitch project slides which describes how we designed our project in the tight schedule.

Takeaway

Through this hackathon, I gain a great experience of what the design process would be like in real collaborations in a team with developers. They have amazing and different ways of seeing the world from their perspective, which provided me with how to design the interface with consideration of developers’ work.

Under the high pressure of completing a project in such a short period of time, my team successfully achieved our product launch with tight communication and positive spirits.

I cannot appreciate enough my team members for providing me with the wonderful opportunity.
