Hi, I'm Kazuki
👩💻Product Designer 🌏Japanese & English 📍Toronto, Canada
I’m a digital product design student in the three-year program of Interaction Design at George Brown College. Currently, I’m looking for an internship to improve my practical product design skills and polish my communication skills in professional product teams.
Skills
How I got there…
It all started when I was working for a Japanese startup company that is contracted by the local government to promote international inbound travellers to my hometown.
I was in a project team to design and launch the only English website for international travellers. My role was to conduct a survey of 200 respondents, design the website with the CEO, and content writing. Though it was a great experience, I realized my skills to design the website are far from enough to launch a good service.
That is when I decided to go for this career and learn more to become a professional product designer.
What I’m passionate about…
I always love to think about solutions to problems we face in our daily lives and I am passionate about solving those problems in new ways using technology. I believe that the design process, including teamwork with different specialists, research, and user-centred design, plays a very important role in this process.
I realized that teamwork with people from different industries can lead to solutions to problems from different perspectives when I participated in a hackathon as a student and teamed up with developers to work on a project. Research is also an important part of the design process, as it provides an opportunity to analyze the problem and examine whether the problem is the core problem to be solved in the first place. I believe that user-centred design plays an important role not only in ease of use but also in eliminating barriers to problem-solving.
